Gothic Makeup - Black Eyes and Broken Noses

My idea behind researching Gothic makeup is to understand how to interperate the emotion of a wounded, tortured soul into an editorial fashion shoot. This makeup is to represent my emotional scene of Myrtle being beaten by Tom, where she will clearly need to express the idea of pain and heartbreak. Goths are well known for having lots of emotional attachments, therefore referencing their makeup styles goes well with this shoot. The purple and black eye makeup that they wear is a perfect way of representing the idea of a black eye, but by making it look fashionable and suitable for an editorial shoot.

Not only will the makeup be a key identity for this shoot, the body language, lighting and location will also help portray the mood and emotion. However, the images above are only there to reference the idea of Gothic makeup - they aren't there to show my ideas as a whole. Also, looking into Gothic makeup reflects the interpretation of creating a contemporary style for Myrtle, having her character experience the life of the novel in the modern day world.
